What is Outpatient Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy uses exercises, hands-on massage, heat therapy, and other treatments to restore or prevent the loss of your abilities and improve mobility and independence. Your first visit will include a physical therapy evaluation. This lets your provider assess your current health situation and symptoms.

Your first visit will last 60 to 90 minutes.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that’s easy to exercise in for your evaluation and future appointments.

You may bring one friend, family member, or caregiver with you to your evaluation. For future visits, you’ll be seen alone to protect your privacy and the privacy of other patients.

To prepare for your first visit, you may need to complete patient forms.
