Vikram Kumar, MD, FAANS is a Board Certified Neurosurgeon at The CORE Institute. His specialized interests include complex degenerative spine disease, brain and spine tumors, pituitary tumors, cerebral aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, and neurotrauma.
Dr. Kumar earned his Undergraduate Degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University. He earned his Medical Degree on an honors scholarship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Kumar completed his residency in neurosurgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he received general surgery and neurosurgery training at The Methodist Hospital, Ben Taub County Hospital, Houston VA, and Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kumar received additional training in neurosurgical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He is also the Section Chief of Neurosurgery and sits on the board of the Division of Neurosciences at Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix. Dr. Kumar is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons as well as the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
