Michael McKernan, MD, is a Board Certified and Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery.
Prior to joining The CORE Institute, Dr. McKernan completed his Orthopedic Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Summa Health in Ohio where he was awarded Chief Resident. Dr. McKernan earned his Doctoral Degree at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, and his Master of Science in Biomedical Science was earned at the University of Toledo College of Graduate Studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Notre Dame.
In his free time, Dr. McKernan enjoys golfing, hiking, skiing, and traveling. His early passion for art led to the creation of medical artwork that was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. McKernan received the 2021 AOA C. McCollister Evarts Leadership Award and is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
