Biography

Russell Linville is a doctor of physical therapy and dual credentialed in both orthopedic (OCS) and sports (SCS) physical therapy. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) practicing out of our West Phoenix location.

Russell completed his sports medicine physical therapy residency at ATI Therapy in Greenville, South Carolina. During his residency he designed and monitored rehabilitation programs specific to the athlete’s injury and physical abilities. His experience has given him the ability to treat musculoskeletal impairments including UCL reconstruction, little league elbow/shoulder, rotator cuff pathology, ACL reconstruction, hip labral repair, and many other pathological and post-operative diagnoses. He takes an interest in working with complex shoulder and elbow patients. Russell also has experience working with high school, college, and professional athletes. He was able to complete an internship experience with the Cleveland Indians at their spring training facilities.

Russell completed his doctorate of physical therapy at Franklin Pierce University in Goodyear, Arizona. While at Franklin Pierce University, Russell researched The Effects of Neck Strength and Stability on the Risk of Concussions in Contact Sports. He earned his Bachelors of Science in health, physical education, and exercise science at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia, graduating magna cum laude.

Dr. Linville is currently an adjunct faculty member and assistant professor at Franklin Pierce University, assisting in teaching musculoskeletal examination and evaluation, differential diagnosis, and pathology. He has been a part of the faculty since 2015.

He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy Section. He is also involved in The CORE Institute’s sports medicine program, working sideline coverage at high school football games in the west valley.
