The SHRI-CORE Orthopedic Research Labs are a joint partnership between Sun Health Research Institute and The CORE Institute®. When the physicians of The CORE Institute® decided to start a practice in Sun City area of Arizona, they wanted to include a state-of-the-art research center to continue their research interests forged at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and from their fellowship programs. Sun Health Research Institute had a distinguished record as a center for excellence in various medical research areas including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. The alliance of the two institutes creates a center for orthopedic excellence not only for greater Phoenix, but also for the entire Southwest region.

The two labs housed at The CORE Institute® include a motion analysis laboratory and a biomechanical testing facility. The labs are staffed with bioengineers and scientists with specialties in an array of biomechanical areas. Bioengineering graduate students and medical students gain training in the various orthopedic research areas and assist in all aspects of the labs. The CORE physicians round out the team of researchers, bringing their expertise in orthopedics, including surgical procedures and device design. This provides a vibrant research community for orthopedic and biomechanical research and clinical studies.

The two labs are non-profit, falling under the umbrella of Sun Health Research Institute. As such, we rely on external funding for all our research studies. We happily accept donation of equipment; please view our wish list for our current needs.
