The CORE Institute is proud to have Karen Kieffer, PA-C as part of our team. Karen is a certified physician assistant with advanced post-graduate fellowship training in the treatment of surgical patients. She brings to CORE a vast experience and a strong foundation in patient care management. Karen’s priority is always the patient and quality of care.
Karen received her undergraduate degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she excelled, receiving numerous awards and graduating Magna Cum Laude. Returning home to Minnesota, Karen pursued her degree in physician assistant studies at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduation, Karen accepted a position with the highly recognized Department of Neurological Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. In pursuit of advancing her knowledge and surgical skills, Karen was accepted to the prestigious surgical residency program at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. During her 15 months of training, Karen stood out as the surgical resident who most exemplified excellence in patient care and the PA role and in recognition was presented the Michael and Aling Sheran Award.
Before joining The CORE Institute, Karen worked with David J. Jacofsky, MD at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, assisting in the care and management of his diverse and complex orthopedic practice. She now continues her already exemplary career as she works with the physicians at The CORE Institute to help build a nationally-recognized orthopedic center of excellence.
Karen, who is part of a large family, enjoys visits from her family and friends in Minnesota. Karen has an interest in outdoor activities such as running and hiking.
